PROCESSING

NEW MOON FACTORY

Our 4,000m² factory is in Thardukan Industrial Zone, Yangon. It is quiet and peaceful with many cow farms behind our factory and commercial fish breeders. We source daily workers from surrounding wards.

A year after buying the factory, we had completely refurbished it. Almost every machine is new. We have invested in better systems and machinery to ensure there is no double handling and everything is automated. We are also able to calibrate our machines to meet specific orders and requirements.

New Moon Factory is 100% self-sufficient for energy. While still having access to the grid, we also have backup power, if necessary, to run our factory and operations and deliver on time.

In our processing, no chemicals are used, only water and food grade oil.

We have zero waste in our factory as we sell by-products as animal feed. We give away some leftover produce, such as husks, to the many cow farms and commercial fish breeders near our factory. We also provide free water to the farms near our industrial zone.

With no waste or stockpiled products, we avoid pests and diseases. However, we still survey our premises and get regular checks.

We take pride that our factory is spacious, well set out, and secure, with a dry warehouse. We store produce in polypropylene (PP) bags on wooden pallets before export to prevent ground moisture seeping into them. PP are strong and not easily broken.

Our factory is open 9am to 5pm every day except Sunday and public holidays. We invite our traders to visit us.

MODERN, COMPETITIVE AND AUTOMATED PROCESSING

New Moon Family is one of the most modern and up to date manufacturers in Myanmar. We are interested in machines and learn from blogs and social media. We are always learning. When we bought the company, we needed a more efficient way to move processed products to the storage containers.

We implemented the Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing method in our factory, which is very rare in our industry in Myanmar. We are only able to do this because I did my master’s thesis on this subject.

Our focus is fresh products. After a customer puts through an order, we have 2–3 days for our collecting companies to deliver the produce. Then we process it within 3 weeks, pack it into a container and ship it to the client. Our turnaround is 1 month. JIT helps us to ensure that produce is fresh and minimizes waste in the factory.

The JIT system focuses on competitive pricing. Our business offers customers the best possible prices by cutting out inefficiencies. JIT has become a benchmark in Myanmar and our factory. We are leaders and innovators using cutting edge systems and machinery that have a positive impact on reduced energy and waste.
